Look at the entryways of the building that used to house Nicks Coney Island on Hawthorne. Each one has a hex tile entry and the old (pre-1931) address numbers spelled out in the tiles!
These are pictures I take on walks around Portland (usually SE). This has something to do with curiosity, loss, change, and the feeling you get when you come across a newly constructed building and ask yourself, "What used to be here?" even though you walked past it every day.
