Just as I snapped this I heard a short conversation.
"All these businesses are turning into... what?"
"Yeah, it's the rent."

These are pictures I take on walks around Portland (usually SE). This has something to do with curiosity, loss, change, and the feeling you get when you come across a newly constructed building and ask yourself, "What used to be here?" even though you walked past it every day.
